For shorter stays, find me on the work social platform, and I will share how to legally accommodate this and Airbnb's policies. - Lisa Lefebvre/Lucid Growth Lab ## The space This 1800 sq ft / 550 sq meter apartment is situated in a historic, converted warehouse and has very high (20 ft/ 6 m) ceilings, large windows to the North and South, and a generous skylight, all of which make the apartment sunny -- a rarity in Manhattan. The space has a rotating art collection. Some paintings and photographs were made by friends, some by artists who had retrospectives at MoMA, and others from contemporary art galleries in South Africa where I used to travel for work. TO REQUEST A BOOKING Because this is my home, please tell me a bit about who will be staying. Given that this is an upscale, small, quiet building, the loft is best suited for mature, respectful adults. Note that quiet hours are 8 am - 11 pm, and no parties are allowed. LOCATION If you are browsing this listing, you already know SoHo is the most stimulating, creative, and centrally located NYC neighborhood to live in, work in, and visit. Many celebrities live in this area. Even if you don't book this particular loft, I highly recommend visitors stay in SoHo. SoHo is at the center of the most interesting neighborhoods in NYC, almost all of which are within walking distance: NoLiTa, Greenwich Village, Union Square, Flatiron, Chinatown, East Village/Lower East Side, and TriBeCa. DOWNSTAIRS LAYOUT On the first floor, the keyed elevator opens up into a large living and dining area. A full bath is off to the left. It is small, but clean and functional, with a shower and shelving for toiletries. The kitchen is fully stocked with tools and pantry items which you are welcome to use if needed. There is a pharmaceutical-grade water filter under the kitchen sink. In the back of the first floor is a cozy living room situated under the large skylight -- this is the room most favored by my friends. UPSTAIRS LAYOUT The second floor has an additional sitting area with a television. If needed, the couch can be converted into a comfortable single bed to sleep 5 in total. *Please let me know if you would like this option before your arrival.* The upstairs bathroom includes double sinks, a sauna, a jacuzzi tub, and a shower stall. There is a pharmaceutical-grade water filter on the upstairs shower head. This means the water pressure is a little lower than normal, but all toxins will have been filtered out. There is also a full washer/dryer, iron, and ironing board. SLEEPING AREAS There are two sleeping areas upstairs. Mattresses are exceptionally comfortable with memory foam toppers. All linens are hotel-quality, and used only for guests. The front sleeping area is an alcove with a Double bed. This room is situated under the skylight. Because this is a loft, it does not have a door but there is an opaque curtain that can be drawn shut for privacy. (It is wonderful to sleep here during a rain or snow storm!) The back sleeping area has a Queen bed and a wall of windows. It is very quiet. The back bedroom windows can include blackout curtains. *Please mention you would like this option when booking.* Please note this is a true loft so there are no bedroom doors, but both sleeping areas are very private from each other. The floor plan in the photo gallery section can help you understand the layout of the bedrooms vis-à-vis each other. While there are no closets per se, there is a garment rack with ample hangers for hanging clothes, suitcase racks, and a wardrobe in the front/library bedroom. A CHALLENGE TO SOME, AN ADVANTAGE TO OTHERS ... The loft has many artful, delicate objects and furnishings. A few guests have commented that this is stressful for families with small children. If you would like me to remove fragile objects for your stay, please let me know as I would be glad to do this. TRANSPORTATION SoHo is the only neighborhood in NYC where all 5 major Manhattan subways have stops, so it is an extremely convenient and fast area from which to get around Manhattan or to Brooklyn. Someone could literally spend a month in the 20 square blocks surrounding the apartment and still not fully experience all the interesting options in the area. It has wonderful landmarked architecture, enjoyable people watching, exquisite shopping options and some of the best restaurants in the city. Even if you don't end up staying in this loft, definitely stay somewhere in Soho. No other neighborhood is as interesting or centrally located. ## Getting around Mostly you will be walking around and enjoying the neighborhood, but if you want to sightsee further, the loft is ideally located within a few blocks of 4 out of the 5 major NYC subway lines: BDFM services the middle of the city, NR diagonally services the city, 6 services the Eastside and CE which services the Westside. ## Host interaction I leave town early prior to guests' arrival to accommodate a proper and thorough cleaning and resetting of the apartment.
