Shatemuc | Port Ewen | Waterfront Retreat with Stunning Views

We only stayed for a short visit, but this was one of those places left a warm, positive impression. It's very clear from the moment you walk in that a lot of thought, care, and personality went into this home. It feels very personal while still being modern, fresh, and impeccably clean. You can tell the kind of person the owner is by all the books, art, and accolades peppered throughout the space. One of our favorite parts was discovering the little details throughout the house, from hidden rooms to unexpected surprises that made exploring the space fun. The river view is also stunning, waking up to seeing a bald eagle perched outside was pretty unforgettable. It's not just a rental but someone's home that's been designed and loved. We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable, beautifully curated place to stay.

This is a beautiful house with the best view I have ever had in a rental. Nick was a phenomenal host. This is a 5 star property with the following caveats: It is not the entire house. Nick and his dog were in the basement. This is in the listing, but it’s a long listing and I missed it. It wasn’t an issue for us, but if seeing into Nick’s basement apartment from the back yard or visits from the dog bother you, contact Nick and talk about it. It seems like he would accommodate you. If being able to access the water from the property is important to you, this is not the place. You can only access the water at a pretty high tide. If you miss your window, you could have issues. Last, the 3rd bedroom is limited. It is not appropriate for small kids or anyone over 6’ and 200lbs. I am 5’10”; 205lbs and 56 years old. I could get up there, but it wasn’t fun. Just know what you are getting into. Also, there are some quirks to this place. Some were fun. Some not so much. But, great place

Staying at the Shatemuc was absolutely beautiful. Waking up to the sun rising over the Hudson River is a site to see. Gorgeous home and peaceful surroundings. Nick is a great host answering any questions I had within minutes. A big thank you to Tashe (Nick’s dog) for entertaining Freya for a few days. She loved running around with him. Thanks again. Diana

Walking in it’s exactly how it looks in pictures but the view from the home is way better in person. Waking up and throughout the day is a ton of natural light and if you aren’t an early morning person there are eye covers which I used the second day and they were great. Kitchen fully stocked with utensils glassware pots and pans. Bathrooms were awesome with tons of light. The bed was extremely comfortable too , my fiancee and I went up just the two of us but it would be great for 2 couples or a family with a a couple of children. Extremely close to Kingston and Woodstock. If you visit eat at Chleo the food is outstanding. Thanks nick your place was great thanks for sharing it ! PS we met his pup and what an absolute gem. Extremely cute and friendly.!

Incredible details and so dialed in ! Loved the architecture and attention to detail .. fireflies at night make it feel like a magical enchanted glass post and beam fantasy house on the Hudson. A perfect weekend getaway ! Enjoy
